Is The Republican Party Committin’ Suicide?–A Guest Post by Rube
Greetings fellow bloggers Well the mid-term elections are over. Rube has a few observations he wanted to share with you, so without further adieu, here’s Rube.
Howdy again folks. Well, what do ya think about them elections? I reckon as how I ain’t gonna git too excited about the results until I see what them Republicans is really gonna do. I’m a mite afraid there are too many of them what I call Republicrats in that new bunch that’s a comin’ in to the Congress. And I don’t trust that Mitch McConnell or John Boehner any further than I can throw a semi-truck.
I reckon as how things ain’t gonna change much in Washington over the next two years. Yeah, them Republicans might pound their chests and put on a big show, but I’m a feared it’s gonna be just that—all blow and no show.
Oh, I reckons as how they’ll repeal Obamcare and send it to that BO feller’s desk and dare him to veto it, which he will do; but after he vetoes it, that’s where things will stop. I reckon as how their excuse will be: “Well we tried to repeal it, but we didn’t have the votes to overcome his veto, so there’s nothin’ we can do,” and the malaise we been a livin’ under these past two and half decades will just get worse.
It’s just like that feller Rush Limbaugh on the radio says. He says the Republican establishment believes in big government just like them Democrats. The only difference is, they want ta be the ones what runs the goverment, and I reckon as how he’s dead right. The Republican establishment treats them Tea Party Republicans just like the neighbor’s red headed step kids, or like the wicked stepmother and her two wicked step sisters treated Cinderella.
I’m a tellin’ ya folks with the present leadership of them two fellers, McConnell and Boehner at the helm, I’m a predictin’ this election will be the end of any Republican presence in our politics from this day forward. They all campaigned on how they was a goin’ ta change Washington and give the country back ta the people, but they won’t. The way I got it figgered, they’ll act like the little boy in that fable, The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf, and they’ll lose all their credibility just like he did, and they won’t git elected no more.
Ya see, folks, the way I got it figgered, them Republicans in charge of the Party are a committin’ political suicide. Remember in the old mystery stories written by Agatha Christy and other authors, the standard procedure for committin’ a murder was fer the villains ta feed their victims very small doses of arsenic over a period of time until the victim finally croaked? Well I reckon as how that’s exactly what’s a been a happenin’ in the Republican Party, only they been a feedin’ that arsenic ta themselves in in the form of little doses of liberalism over the last twenty years.
Ya see when they took over the Congress in 1994, it was the first time they’d been in power fer 40 years or so, and they didn’t know what ta do with this new found power. They’d been the opposition party opposin’ everthing, and they’d forgotten how ta lead. So they started feedin’ themselves little doses of this arsenic-type liberalism a tryin’ ta gain favor with the people and the liberal media, but just like arsenic poisonin’ they was a killin’ themselves. And that’s what I’m afraid is goin’ ta happen agin now that they’re back in power. Them that’s in leadership positions still don’t know how ta lead. They ain’t got no vision for the future, and they will continue takin’ in that arsenic-type liberalism poison and by the time the 2016 elections roll around, the Republican Party might be on it’s death bed. Sad thing is, they will probably take our republic down with ’em.
See ya next time.
Now, if still have your attention, I want to tell you about Will’s new book. It’s called LouIsa—Iron Dove Of the Frontier. Why don’t ya jump on up to the “Books” page, or “In The Works” page of this website and read a little bit about her. You can even read a few excerpts from the book. I think you’ll like LouIsa. She is quite an interestin’ lady.
