El Tour De Tucson
This is going to be a short blog, today. It’s Saturday and raining cats and dogs in Tucson as I write this. Today is the event of the annual El Tour De Tucson, one of the largest bicycle events in the United States, I’m told. To borrow a phrase from the Postal Service, come rain or shine, the race goes on, however. The number of participants for this event range from 7,000 to 10,000 cyclists from all around the country, with races ranging from one long race of 109 miles to a series of shorter races ranging down to as short as a quarter mile.
These cyclists have priority over the streets of Tucson for one day, so residents wanting to travel Tucson expect, and live with, travel delays for most of the day. So since it’s raining, and difficult to get from point A to point B for a little while, this blogger will stay indoors and work on his latest novel.
See you next week,
