Grandson Becomes Teacher—Grandpa Becomes Student
Greetings friends. I have another special guest today. He won’t be doing the post, but he’s the subject. I’m going to depart from my usual nostalgia theme because of a precious incident that I just have to tell you about. It happened just this morning when the 5 year old grandchild became the teacher and the 78 year old grandpa became the student.
Aidan is fascinated with electronics. His dad acquired a couple of kits that are much like jig saw puzzles. The child assembles various parts of the puzzle to build electrical circuits. Aidan is very astute, and has picked up on this quite readily. As I was typing this post he brought me a circuit board he assembled which contained a light and a fan(photo #1 above). He said if I needed some extra light, there was a light, and if I got too hot, the fan would keep me cool.
But the real point I want to make here, and the precious incident that I spoke of earlier, is something he said. I was standing in the kitchen when he said to me: “Pa Pa, can you come over here for a minute?” So I went over to where he was working. “Okay, I’m here,” I said. “What do you need?” He said, and this is the precious part, “Pa Pa I’m going to teach you about electro stuff.” It was all I could do to keep from breaking up, but at the same time, a lump developed in my throat. He was so serious. Out of the mouths of babes. 🙂 And you what, he wasn’t that far from the truth. What I know about electricity and electronics, Aidan could put in his little pinky. 🙂
