IF YOU WERE CERTAIN IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO FAIL, WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU WOULD WANT TO ACCOMPLISH?
Titus Coppard is on such a quest.
Ideologically, the United States is a divided nation. One half wants to go back to the original principles of the Constitution and self-reliance; the other half wants to continue on the path towards monarchy and more dependence on government for their well-being.
Titus and his followers believe the United States is on a course of sefl-destruction—political suicide—if you will. Excessive spending and government over regulation threaten the citizens’ liberty and the future existence of the free republic they love. They try to get the country back on track through the election process, but to no avail. They decide the only viable course is separation.
They organize an underground revolution that takes place right under the radar of government authorities and bureaucrats, as well as those citizens who favor centralized government. An exodus to seventeen Western and one gulf state by like-minded, limited government people ensues.
They start businesses, take jobs, and involve themselves in politics. They succeed in getting their people elected to the respective state legislatures and governorships, and on a pre-determined date, vote simultaneously to secede from the old union of the United States and form the new Free States of North America.
None of this happens of course without the ups and downs of an interesting story. There are many subplots along the way, and though the story lacks the technical details of a Tom Clancy tale, it contains a love story, a little science fiction, and much political intrigue.
IT’S A POLITICAL FANTASY—OR IS IT? Could it possibly portend a repeat of history? You decide. Stay tuned for more about it on the “In The Works” page at my website and future posts on this blog. The novel will be available later in both print and Kindle versions at www.amazon.com.
